I made a cinnamon bourbon peach upside down spice cake for my roommate's birthday and had a few people asking for the recipe. Like most things I make, I kind of throw a lot of stuff together. That being said...I thought I would type this one up using a couple of cheats. One big cheat will be using a boxed yellow cake.

I have to say this cake is by far 1000 times better than the normal pineapple upside down cake. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Cake Layer Ingredients:

1 Table spoon ground cinnamon
peach juice to substitute for water (optional)

Prepare the box cake per instructions on the box. Instead of using water for the box cake, I substituted with the peach juice from my canned peaches. Please note I didn't use the canned peaches in syrup. BLAH. I actually used peaches canned in juice. After the cake was all mixed up, I added the cinnamon to tie in the the flavors of the cinnamon bourbon aka Fireball that I was adding to the bottom layer.

Bottom Layer Ingredients:

1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 shot (I used 2) Cinnamon Bourbon aka Fireball
1 can sliced chopped peaches (in juice not syrup)

Directions:

Preheat the oven per the box cake instructions.

Mix the box cake per instructions given, substitute peach juice for the water that is required. Add the Table spoon of cinnamon and set aside.

Spray the pan you are using (I used 9 x 13).

Spread around the chopped peaches.

Sprinkle the brown sugar all over the peaches.

To the melted butter, add the Cinnamon Bourbon and combine. Pour this over the brown sugar and peaches.

To this, pour over the mixed cake batter.

Bake it per the instructions on the box for the pan you choose.

I served with vanilla ice cream. I hope you enjoy.
It has been quite a while since I have provided a tip for you guys/gals, but now I am back on the wagon. I will be posting on a regular basis. I have also decided to stop numbering the tips from this day forward. That being said...

Yesterday I ran across a problem where I had to check to see if a certain file called 'Test' was received within the last two years.

To accomplish this, I used the DATEADD() Function which adds or subtracts a specific time interval from a given date.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #242729; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica neue" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">Syntax:
<pre class="lang-sql prettyprint prettyprinted" style="background-color: #eff0f1; border: 0px; font-family: consolas, menlo, monaco, "lucida console", "liberation mono", "dejavu sans mono", "bitstream vera sans mono", "courier new", monospace, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 1em; max-height: 600px; overflow: auto; padding: 5px; width: auto; word-wrap: normal;">
<div style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium; white-space: normal;">
DATEADD (datepart, number, date)

<h3 style="background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; font-family: "Segoe UI", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 24px; margin: 10px 0px;">

The datepart can be broken down by year (yy, yyyy) , quarter (qq, q) , month (mm, m), dayofyear (dy, y), day (dd, d), week (wk, ww), weekday (dw, w), hour (hh), minute (mi, n), and second (ss, s) just to name a few.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #242729; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica neue" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">

<span style="background-color: white; color: #242729; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica neue" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: 15px;">Example Code:
<pre class="lang-sql prettyprint prettyprinted" style="background-color: #eff0f1; border: 0px; font-family: consolas, menlo, monaco, "lucida console", "liberation mono", "dejavu sans mono", "bitstream vera sans mono", "courier new", monospace, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin-bottom: 1em; max-height: 600px; overflow: auto; padding: 5px; width: auto; word-wrap: normal;">

<div style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: medium; white-space: normal;">

Today I ran across an issue with an SQL table that received an injection that inserted bad data at the end of certain fields in all of the records. I had to write some code that would find the bad data and strip it off of the end of the good data. After writing the code, I thought I would share with those interested.

Example:

In this specific example, the tblNews table received a SQL Injection that inserted a long strand of bad data at the end of the Body field. Lucky for me, the Injections all started with '<div style='. That specific hunk of characters is what I used to track them all down. I first created a query to pull all the records to see what I was looking at. Then typed an Update statement that removed all the characters to right of '<div style='.

Initial Pull:
Yesterdays Just A Tip Felt so good, I thought I would do it again today. Twice in one week. You guys & gals get a great tip, while I get another notch under my belt. Win. Win.

Today's coding issue involves 2 Integer fields that need to be concatenated into 1 big field and that field needs to be Varchar. To accomplish this, you will need to Cast each Integer as a Varchar then concatenate them.

<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; clear: both; font-family: arial, "helvetica neue", helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 19.5px; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px;">

For Example, in an SQL table called tblPetOwners you have 2 fields (OwnerNumber & PetNumber) which are Integers and wish to join them with an '&' in between them. To do this, you have to CAST them both as Varchar before concatenating them. Below is the best way I have came across to accomplish this task and I show you the data in the table, the code itself, followed by the results.

I know it has been a while since I have given you a good tip...So without further ado.

Today I had a situation where I needed to give a count of items that were across a couple of tables and involved a few unions in SQL. Since my query took up about 2 pages, I figured I would make a simple version for all you folks out there reading this. I hope it helps.

For Example, let us say you have two tables ( Results & ArchivedResults) and were needing to get a count on them both. Let us also assume you didn't use a JOIN because of the different criteria in each SQL statement. Based off those results you need to get a count. Below is how this can be accomplished.
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21.4286px; margin-bottom: 10.5px;">
Example Code:

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "menlo" , "monaco" , "consolas" , "courier new" , monospace;">SELECT PullResults.Name, COUNT(*)
FROM (SELECT Name FROM Results
UNION ALL
SELECT Name FROM ArchivedResults) as PullResults
GROUP BY Name
ORDER BY Name

<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21.4286px; margin-bottom: 10.5px;">

At some point, you will be required to use the SQL GROUP BY clause with the SQL SUM function. My time to use this was today and I thought I would create this post to help anyone else that may be needing to accomplish the same.

For example, you could also use the SQL SUM function to return the name of the department and the total sales (in the associated department).

Example Code:

SELECT department, SUM(sales) AS "Total sales"
FROM order_details
GROUP BY department;

Because you have listed one column in your SQL SELECT statement that is not encapsulated in the SQL SUM function, you must use the SQL GROUP BY clause. The department field must, therefore, be listed in the SQL GROUP BY section.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Over the last couple of coding posts I have showed you how to use the SUM function. This being said, I thought I would show you how to use the AVE function in SQL.
This specific event started out with a meet up in Isle 35 at Keenland where we were greeted with Bloody Marks (aka bloody mary's made with good old Makers Mark) and North Limestone Doughnuts provided by Jacklyn E., our lovely tour guide from Makers Mark. This was truly a perfect tailgate breakfast before we hopped on the Mint Julep Tour bus and were on our way to Loretto, the home of Maker's Mark Distillery.
They pointed out great tid bits and facts about the local area as we drove through the small towns. They also pointed out great destination places along the way, like the man with 500+ riding lawn mowers outside his house. I have to admit as a geeky road trip kid, that was a great stop. lol. We also learned about bourbon on the way with the help of Jacklyn. Great facts before we even got to Maker's Mark.
This is where Jacklyn shined. She was so knowledgeable of Maker's Mark history and the bourbon making process, it was amazing. Being on a special tour, we got to go into a couple buildings that most tours will not allow. The actually Distilling Building was one and the Quality Control Area was the other.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17.9999px;">In the Distilling Building, we got to see the mill that does all the corn and grain grinding for every batch of bourbon that gets made. We got to see and taste the 1 day mash that was bubbly and sweet (Odd I know). Then sampled one that was more bitter and corny (BLAH), video proof below. We saw the White dogs which is the liquid at 120 and 130 proof which we also got to sample. Be aware this isn't on the normal tours.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17.9999px;">Next room was the labeling building. Every label on every bottle is printed and then cut on an old repurposed printing press. This cutter only cuts a max of 4 sheets at a time. A time consuming process but well worth the effort.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17.9999px;">The super secret Quality Control Building was next. These ladies in here are like CSI of the booze world. Very impressive. They do samplings of all the batches at many stages of the process. They also keep one bottle of every batch for referencing. They have 25 workers that sniff, sip and sample bourbon every morning. Those lucky people. What a job. This was also the place where Maker's 46 was invented.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17.9999px;">The storage barn was next. There we got to see the inside of a barrel and learned how the rotate the casts manually by hand from upper levels of the barn to the lower level. They don't use climate control facilities here. It takes average of 6 years or so to get the flavor profile that makes Maker's Mark so special. There isn't an exact day per say, the bourbon will tell them when its ready by its flavor. At that point is is diluted with their distilled water to get the proof they require. Unless you are lucky enough to buy Straight Cast (like I did).

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17.9999px;">The Bottling/Dipping building was next stop on our tour, a few of the videos are listed below. There we saw the empty bottles move from cleaning to filling and sealing. Then hand dipped in the signature red wax after the label has been slapped on. It was a fancier version of the beer scene from Lavern and Shirley opening scene. It was really impressive.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17.9999px;">Then we arrived at the tasting room. Here we got to sample 5 different bourbons (2 which aren't normally on the tastings). Under Mature, Fully Mature, Over Mature, Maker's 46, Cast Straight. Jacklyn rocked out here as well. She explained to us how we should sniff the bourbons before sipping. Basically how to experience bourbon with all our senses. I loved it. Each bourbon tasted like bourbon, but had different hints of flavors and smells. Pretty neat. They gave us Maker's Mark distilled water also. WHO KNEW? Freakin Water from their Super Secret Limestone Lake.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17.9999px;">Next we helped our selves to Bourbon Balls as we walked into the Beautiful hall filled with hand blown glass made by Stephen Rolfe Powell. It is so beautiful. Hundreds of unique, brightly colored glass lines this ceiling in this hall way. So stunning. There are also hidden angels in here as well. I forgot what their meaning was.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17.9999px;">The gift shop was the last stop on our Maker's Mark Distillery Tour. We were given a bottle of Maker's and got all gussied up and were able to dip our own bottles in the signature red wax. Such a great experience. Here we also shopped and bought other goodies. I got Round Ice trays and Maker's 46 Straight Cast (which I also got to dip).

Lunch boxes provided by Joe's Deli. (no more room) Thanks ALL. Keep a look out for my next article about touring Wild Turkey.
Then I realized that not everyone would have came across this. Even though in the past I have showed you how to use the SUM Function in SQL. This time I thought I would go one step further and show you how to get a SUM while using a formula in SQL.

Use the SUM() Function to get the total of a specific numeric column. With that being said, the Sum function doesn't need to be a single field. In this case, you can use a formula. Kind of like, getting total Profit by subtracting Expense (Column1) from Total Sales (Column2). Below is the specific syntax to use.

SQL SUM Example:
While traveling on a plane, sanitize often and take immunity boosters. In my opinion, planes and most public places are cesspools. I take every precaution as I possibly can while getting from point A to point B. I bring hand sanitizing gel with at least 60% alcohol in a 2 ounce container so I can put it in my carry on. I use a bit of sanitizer before I eat or drink. I also use it after I wash my hands and get back to my seat after using the airplane lavatory.

To also help avoid germs while on a plane, I use Clorox wipes on the seat arms and tray to make sure to kill as many germs that I may come in contact with as possible. I also take Airborne immunity booster the entire time while traveling and a few days before my trip. Taking just a few precautions should allow you to travel and not contact too many nasty germs.
While traveling on a plane, blow away germs using your vent that is usually located directly above your head. While most planes are equipped with advanced air filters that remove 99 percent of the dust and microbes in the recycled air, but it isn't a perfect system. If you are a frequent flyer, then your chances on catching something while traveling are increased. As a passenger, there is something you can do to help fight that last 1 percent. By adjusting the vent to blow directly into your lap, you should create enough of an air current to knock away any infectious germs that may be floating into your personal space. In my opinion, every little bit helps. Keep checking back for more helpful Travel Tips from the Wanderlust Coder.
I am looking for helpful hint on what I need to do on my blog to get readers/followers. I finally realized, I am not going to try and force it. I will write things that I experience and may even actually buy a new domain and reinvent myself.

I have been traveling for a while, but recently just started blogging to go with it. I am not actually a writer, but I am a damn good story teller. With that said, I have read an article where it said to taste local culture when you travel and blog/write about it. The article also went on to say that if you could experience something that made you feel uncomfortable or something, then you are going about it the right way. (I think the article in question was from Blogging In Paradise - How To Do Freeing But Uncomfortable Stuff. Taking that to heart I thought I would do something completely out of your comfort zone while traveling.

Well, it lead me to the story you are about to hear anyways. Please note, that I don't really have a personal filter and I don't sugar coat things like most people. During my last trip to the Philippines, I decided to have a massage. This is something a lot of people enjoy, but for me it is kind of odd. I am not a fan of strangers touching me or massages in general.

This certain day, my partner said, "Lets go get massages." He gets them all the time and loves them. He always asks me, but I normally decline.

On this specific day while thinking of the article I just read about getting out of my comfort zone, I said, "Sure that sounds nice."

With that said, he made us appointments for later on that day. He then said, "I have a surprise for you."

I said, "what is it?"

He said, "I set you up with a 1.5 hour massage and then a hour Turkish Bath."

I had no idea what that was. I guess he was tired of me saying I needed to experience something new and strange that took me out of my comfort zone and took charge. Kind of like the mommy bird kicking her kids out of the nest, if you will. I am kind of glad he did. That lead this new experience.

Kind of like the faucet in the bath section.

I was left in a low lit room down a dark quite hall and was told to remove my clothes and lay down. Then the guy came in and proceeded to massage the knots out of my neck/back. It actually wasn't that bad. The hour and half went by super fast. I swear I almost fell asleep. Then he said to leave all my stuff there in the room and gave me a tiny towel to cover my junk. At that point, we walked on down the hall where I was put in a steam room by myself and asked to get up on this marbled table. It wasn't the most comfy table, but it was hot and steamy.

After about 10 minutes of laying in the steam filled room, a guy came in that I really don't think could speak English. He proceeded to pull a hose out of the ceiling which almost reminded me of the ones in big restaurants (one pictured to the right) and started hosing me off with this hot/warm water. I was thinking to myself that this whole bath isn't that bad at all.

He made sure to get every area of my body soaking wet. It was awkward filling, but not too unbearable. Then he started soaping me up. He was using like a hand sponge, but it wasn't too soft. I think it was part sand paper and it is meant to scrub all the dead skin off. To be quite honest, I think it also took quite a bit of living skin off as well. This man scrubbed on me for 30 minutes or more. Every one of my 2000 parts. No crack or crevasse went untouched or scrubbed or lathered. I would have to say, at times it actually hurt. It is a wonder if I wasn't actually bleeding in spots. At least he was more gentle when he was lathering up my family jewels and all my super sensitive areas. Thank goodness for that. I had to say a little prayer or two hoping that he didn't get that sponge caught on any of my many body piercings. That wouldn't have been a fun time at all. I could just see him ripping out a nipple ring or my prince albert and not batting an eye as I screamed in pain.

I know they say no pain - no gain, but damn...That really did hurt at times, almost felt like a bad road rash. I was just counting down to the moment that he was going to rinse me off and send me on my way. After it was all said and done, I have never felt so clean in my life. That last full body rinse was so nice and soothing.

I was then escorted to the room where I was massaged while wearing nothing at all and dried off with a towel laying on the bed for me. Either way, when it was all over and my skin shiny and red, it was a great memory. It is an experience that I am going to remember for a long time. I am truly glad I did it. Who knows, I my do it again next time I had back to Philippines. That is if my skin grows back on all my 2000 parts by then. LOL.
This weekend I was asked to pull random sample of 40 rows. I was thinking that was super easy, but then they put a kink in the request. They wanted the 40 random rows with 20 from type 'A' and 20 from type 'B' from a specific table (TableName) in Microsoft SQL Server. The first was 20 random people where ColumnName = 'A' and the second was 20 random people where ColumnName = 'B'.

Using SQL To Select Random Rows From A Table as a stepping off point. I have altered the code below to use multiple random SELECT with a UNION in SQL to accomplish the task. Easy as pie.
Today I was asked to randomly pull random 25 records from a database table for a client. It took me a minute or so to remember how to accomplish this. With that being said, I thought I would type it up for everyone to be able to benefit from it.

I know there are a lot of ways to select random records or rows from a database table, but in this quick article I will show you the Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL syntax required to accomplish the end goal.
Again I come to you with some knowledge that may help you keep your website up-to-date with another one of your social media feeds. This way you have constant changing information appearing on your site without having to hand enter it each time or even knowing how to code. Anytime you can do link social media to a site, I would suggest to do it. With that said, lets get started.

This article will give you the information you need to be able to embed a Blogger feed directly into a website. There is a "quick/dirty" way and a "customized" way to do this. At this time, I will be giving you the "quick/dirty" way to directly embed a Blogger feed into a website. At a later date, I will give you the completely "customized" way.

4 Simple Steps To Add A Blogger Feed To A Site:

Go To The Blogger RSS Feed You Wish To Embed
Type the URL into a web browser.

Edit the Code Below Replace "chadcomptonblog" below with the Blogger Site name you wish to embed.

<iframe src ="http://chadcomptonblog.blogspot.com/" width="100%" height="400">

Your browser does not support iframes.

Copy/Paste the Code Above Onto Your WebsiteThe code should be placed where ever on the page you wish the Blogger Feed itself to appear.

Save your New Code to Your Site

After adding your new code to your site where you want it, save it and upload it if necessary.

During my travels, somewhere along the way, I have picked up the habit of drinking probiotics as a breakfast shot. I usually drink them in a little shot drink made by the company Yukult. I never really knew why I did it, but I like the tart taste of it and was told it was good for me. Not until today did I know exactly why it was good for me.

Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are consumed daily to help balance the digestive system and maintain overall health. Probiotics can be found in other foods such as kefir, sauerkraut, sourdough bread, pickles, tempeh, miso, plain unflavored yogurt, kimchi, kombucha tea,
dark chocolate, and microalgae.

Usually bacteria is thought of as something that causes colds and other diseases, but the human body is full of both good and bad. The "good" or "helpful" bacteria are referred to as probiotics and can help prevent and treat a wide variety of ailments. Below are just a few benefits that I have ran across in my studies.

Digestive Benefits

The human digestive tracts are filled with thousands of different types of living bacteria. This bacteria help us break down and absorb nutrients from the foods we eat. These bacteria can die or are killed when we take medicines such as antibiotics. Probiotics can be used to repopulate the digestive tract with these healthful bacteria we need.

Probiotics have been known to help people suffering with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other intestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, cramps, and constipation. For this reason, most people use probiotics for overall digestive management and weight maintenance.

Allergy

Still being researched, but interesting to find out. When infants received probiotics in-vitro, they had higher levels of tissue inflammation. This is thought to trigger the immune system and reduce allergy incidence. There is also a 30 percent reduction of instance of childhood eczema in these infants.

Immunity

One of the main functions of healthful bacteria is to stimulate immune responce. Consuming enough probiotics, a person can help maintain a healthy immune system by increasing the production from lymphcytes which will boost the immune system.

Heart Health

Probiotics have been known to lower cholesterol by breaking up bile salts and decreasing cholesterol from being absorbed into the body.

Oral Health

Probiotics kills bactera that causes tooth decay and lessens the effects of gingivitis. Daily doses of this healthy bacteria will also reduce bleeding gums.

Urinary Health

Regular probiotics can help prevent urinary tract infections by maintaining a higher population of healthy bacteria on the tract's adherence sites. It also has been found to prevent yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis in women as well.
A friend of mine introduced me to the app called Ibotta. She said you really earn money while shopping for things you normally buy like milk, eggs, veggies, or even clothing. I was very skeptical and ended up downloading the app onto my phone. After toying around with it for a while, I realized it really was legit. This is a great way for me to earn extra money. As many of you know, I am a traveler and never know where I will end up at any given time. This app travels with me and don't require me to carry paper coupons. I love it. It also links in with my frequent shopper cards from many of the stores I frequent.

Once you download the program and create a login, you just need to browse the available rebates either by category or specific store. Some of the Categories and Stores I have listed below. You click on the item you wish to buy, watch a short 10 to 30 second video, view a recipe, or answer a few questions about a product to unlock the rebate. It is as simple as that. At this time, the rebate will be added to your Shopping List.

They have mostly name brand items on their rebate list but there are a lot of product types that they refer to as Any Brand Rebates. They consist of onions, milk, eggs, tomatoes, bread, frozen pizza, frozen veggies, and ice cream just to name a few. I have also noticed that these rebates pop up on a weekly or bi weekly basis to use. So just because you use it once, don't mean it will not come up available again.

Once you go shopping and buy the items on your shopping list, you just scan their UPC code and scan or take a picture of your receipt and CHING! You just made free money. Who doesn't like free money? EXACTLY!

You can also join Teams if you are invited to join like with this link here I provided. This will allow you to join my team. Then we get extra money for being on teams. It is a win win.
Once you earn enough money in your rebates, you can either cash out, send to paypal, or get gift cards from a huge selection of participating businesses.

The categories you can pick from are Back to School, Grocery, Apparel, Beauty & Wellness, Electronics, Restaurants, Sports & Fitness, Home & Office, Babies & Kids, Arts & Crafts, Pets, Specialty & Gifts, Automotive, Travel, Beer, Wine & Spirits. Some of the specific stores are American Eagle, Famous Footwear, Walmart, Kroger, Target, CVS, Food Lion, Family Dollar, Sam's Club, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Whole Foods, Circle K, Speedway, Express, Orbits, Macy's, Kohl's, and Hoppy Lobby just to name a few.

As you can see, you are more than likely buying the items required to receive the rebate. So what are you waiting for? Click the link below and join my team. Lets both earn money together https://ibotta.com/r/aylmtel
So in a past blog, I wrote Tip 12: Embed A Twitter Feed Into A Website and was asked if there was a way to embed Facebook into a website as well. Facebook provides you with all the tools you need to do this.

If there is any way to embed any of your social media feeds into your website or blog, I would recommend doing so. This way you have constant changing information appearing on your site without having to hand enter it each time or even knowing how to code. With that said, lets get started.

The 7 simple steps to add a facebook feed to your site.

Go to Facebook Developer Plugin Page

Copy/Paste or Type the Facebook Page Website Address
in the box that is labeled Facebook Page URL.

Pick the Settings You Desire for Your Plugin
Add width, height, show friends faces, hide cover photo, and show page posts. You will be able to see what the end result of your options will look like on the bottom of the page. (Just a note, for the width and height I use percentages instead of pixels to make it more mobile responsive.)

Click the "Get Code" button
The code you just created will pop up.

Copy the Code from Section 1
This code should be placed at the top of the desired page. Facebook developers recommend to place it directly after the
tag. It is the Javascript SDK coding that is needed for the plugin to function.

Copy the Code from Section 2
This code should be placed where ever on the page you wish the Facebook Plugin itself to appear.

Save your New Code to Your Site
After adding your new code to your site where you want it, save it and upload it if necessary.

If you are looking for just adding the "Like" or "Share" buttons to your site, check back at a later date.
I have ate beets for years and really was an acquired taste for me. As a kid, I thought beets were only able to be consumed when pickled. I didn't like them at all. It wasn't until later in life when I had a roasted beet and enjoyed it. Then it wasn't until my travels abroad that I found out that you could eat the beet green as well.

Brief History

The beet originated in prehistoric times and grew wild along the coastlines of Asia, Europe, and North Africa. Back then, only the beet greens or tops were consumed. Ancient Romans were the first peoples to cultivate and consume the beet root itself. Invading tribes of Rome were the ones responsible of spreading beets through northern Europe and then introducing them to the rest of the world.
Beets or sugar beets are very sweet and contain the highest sugar content of all vegetables. Both their root and greens (aka tops) are good for human consumption and are packed with nutrients. Please note that beets aren't just the plain Jane red ball that most people picture when they hear the word. Beet farmers have developed many different varieties including gold or yellow or candy cane.Besides tasting great, eating beets and their greens can benefit the body.
I recently was asked to embed a Twitter feed into a clients website. After I launched the site, I was asked how I did this. So instead of just emailing that one person and letting him know, I thought I would write a blog about it. This way many people could benefit from the information as well.

Please note that you do not just have to post a specific Twitter feed on your site. During this process, I found out that you can also embed Favorites, Search Words, Lists, or Collections from any given account.

Embedding a Twitter feed and any other social media into a site is a great way to allow non-coding site owners the ability to update sections of their site without having to attempt to edit the website code itself. This feature is also immediate with no delay in data or news getting to the feed. I would encourage any website owner to do this. I will also blog about how to do this with other forms of social media as well at a later date and time. Keep checking back often. Or if you wish to see one sooner than later, email me.

The 8 simple steps below will allow you to embed a twitter feed into a website with ease.

Sign into a Twitter account, please note it doesn't have to be the account
you wish to embed into your site.

Go click on your avatar up in the right corner and then go down to Settings.

Once you are in your Settings, go click on Widgets.

Click on the Create New button.

Type the Twitter Username you are wishing to embed in the top line.

Click through the Options you wish to show and
then customize some of the design by defining the Height, Theme, and Link Color.

Click the Create Widget button.

Copy & paste this code to your website.

When you are in a place long enough while traveling, you are going to have to venture out to get groceries at some point. You are going to have to pick up supplies and groceries or other food stuffs just as the locals do. Living in Angeles City, Philippines this holds true as well.

Here there are little one room stalls or open markets all along the streets that you can visit if you like, but I am referring to the full blown action of the grocery store. Most of the larger grocery store chains here are located in malls or bigger shopping centers.

Fish looking at me from Fish counter.

When you enter these grocery stores, you will have to go past security men/women that will more than likely check you with a metal detector or pat you down. This is completely normal for this area of the world. You will know the official security folks by their unique white and black uniforms (shown above).

All of the markets in Asia will have a certain smell that just can't be described. Soon as you step foot inside the doors, you can smell the distinct smell. It is a mixture of fresh fish, seafood, poultry, pork, and other meats. Some people are repulsed by it, but I on the other hand find it very comforting. You will also get hints of durian and other asian fruits and veggies that are a bit out of the ordinary. If you are unfamiliar with the durian fruit, you can read about the King of Fruits in my blog by clicking here. This scent is so enticing to me, when I am in the United States, I seek out Asian Markets to shop in. It takes me back to my homes I have had abroad.

Here in the Philippines, there are many ways to buy a certain product. You can purchase a regular size jar of an item lets say mayonnaise. Or you can a full sized packed of mayonnaise to refill your previous jar with. Or you can pick up single-serving packets of the mayonnaise. These single packets are actually bought up by people and taken to their road side store or stand in their local village in most cases. I am just using mayonnaise as an example. Any item for the most part can be purchased like this. The pinoy (relating to the Philippines or the Filipinos) seem to be a single-serving culture and I love them for that.

If you are a creature of habit and wish to purchase specific brands that you have grown accustom to, you can find a lot of the same products on army bases, duty free stores, or some stores have a foreign section as well. Please be aware that these foreign products may be two or three times the cost of what you are use to paying in your home country.

The Philippines are also really strict when it comes to rules. They have check out isles that are for certain shopping cart sizes (they refer to them by color and size). The orange carts are the hand held carts we are use to here in the United States, but they also can have a push cart that holds 2 of these hand held carts which is still makes it okay to check out in the orange cart isle. They also have a big cart check out and those usually vary in color, but are strictly referred to as Big Cart Isle. Then last but not least they have a Senior Citizen or Pregnant Isle to check out. Even if all the Big Cart Isles and the Orange Cart Isles are backed up with 10 or 15 people, they will not allow anyone who isn't a Senior or Pregnant to check out in the Senior or Pregnant Isle. Crazy but true fact.

This week I ran upon an issue in SQL where I needed to actually do a Google Search to find an answer. I knew how to do this in Visual Basic.Net (VB.Net), but had no clue how to do it via one single SQL statement which is my preferred method. I needed to UPDATE A Column with its current value with an additional word added. The column I was needing to update had multiple options. Below I will show you 2 ways to complete the same project and you see which one you prefer.

I could have designed an update for every specific possible outcome and it would have worked just fine, but here lately I try to accomplish something with one perfect query. Below I will show you both ways that I am talking about. You can pick the best one for your project.

Example.

I have a table called tblTable and in that table I have a fields/columns called DocumentType and DateReceived. I wish to ADD the year to the end of specific DocumentTypes that were received in 2015 for archiving purposes. The DocumentType I wish to archive are Certificate and Report only.
Table original called tblTable.

DocumentName

DocumentType

DateReceived

Cow.doc

Certificate

1/2/2015

Dog.doc

Entry

2/5/2015

Chicken.doc

Report

5/5/2015

Horse.doc

Entry

1/9/2015

Pig.doc

Certificate

8/8/2014

Pony.doc

Certificate

5/1/2015

Table results after the SQL statements below.

DocumentName

DocumentType

DateReceived

Cow.doc

Certificate 2015

1/2/2015

Dog.doc

Entry

2/5/2015

Chicken.doc

Report 2015

5/5/2015

Horse.doc

Entry

1/9/2015

Pig.doc

Certificate

8/8/2014

Pony.doc

Certificate 2015

5/1/2015

The first way would be to do 2 separate update statements that would UPDATE each specific DocumentType with the desired results.

UPDATE tblScanDocs
Set DocumentType = 'Report 2015'
where DocumentType = 'Report' and YEAR(DateReceived) = '2015'

And

UPDATE tblScanDocs
Set DocumentType = 'Certificate 2015'
where DocumentType = 'Certificate' and YEAR(DateReceived) = '2015'

The second way (the way I prefer) is to combine both of the above statements into one.

UPDATE tblScanDocs
Set DocumentType = DocumentType + ' 2015'
where DocumentType in ('Certificate' , 'Report')
and YEAR(Datereceived) = '2015'

Both ways will give you the desired outcome, but as you can see the second way would be a great time saver if you had quite a few DocumentTypes that needed to be updated.
During my years of travel to and from Asia, I have developed an acquired taste for a lot of the drinks and foods the different cultures have to offer.

One of the unique items I can't get enough of is a nutritional drink known as Aloe Vera Water or Juice. Aloe vera juice contains leaf pulp that is rich in natural nutrients and fiber. The one that I normally drink is actually flavored with the essence of grapes. It tastes like a bight crisp water with the fibrous pulp from the aloe making it seem most like the inside of a grape itself. I actually started drinking it before I knew of its beneficial properties. Below are just a few of aloe's benefits when ingested by way of this nutritional drink.

Please do not consume aloe vera that isn't made for internal consumption.
Ingesting aloe vera helps improve the circulation of blood in the body. It helps fight blood clots in the arteries of the heart and body while reducing fatty deposits. Aloe helps stop the body's absorption of cholesterol, thus reducing overall cholesterol levels and promoting good health.

Immune Benefits

Aloe vera aid the immune system by ridding the body of harmful pathogens and toxins because it contains bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties. It helps the immune system directly by reducing effect of allergies, arthritis, and other inflammatory immune disorders.

Digestive Benefits

When ingested, aloe vera contains nutrients that heal and soothe the lining of the digestive tract. Aloe can decrease irritation while aiding in the repair of ulcers in the mouth, stomach, and intestines. Aloe is an adaptogen that can increase healthy bacteria that regulate bowel movements, while easing acid reflux. It also contains a substance called anthraquinone, which is a natural laxative. Aloe rids the body of bad bacteria while regulating diarrhea and constipation. Aloe vera juice decreases inflammation in both the stomach and intestines thus helping in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), colitis, and other inflammatory disorders of the stomach.
